Fludarabine For Purine Analogresistant

Fludarabine is a fluorinated monophosphorylated purine nucleoside analog that resists deamination by adenosine deaminase and is cytotoxic after conversion to the triphosphate form.23 Known better for its excellent efficacy for CLL, fludarabine is capable of inducing responses in HCL. Of four reported responses of HCL to fludarabine, one partial response (PR) was observed in HCLv, and one of four responses was a marginal response.2425 Several of these patients were resistant to purine analogs. Fludarabine can also be used in combination with monoclonal antibody (mAb) therapy, as in CLL.26
