to transplant patients, the prognosis of these patients was poor, with only four patients surviving.

Table 78.2 summarizes several experiences of MDS/AML after ASCT. In summary, the reported cumulative risk of MDS exceeds 10% in several series of patients undergoing autotransplantation for NHL, and is somewhat lower after transplantation for other histologies. Older patients with extensive prior chemotherapy, patients receiving localized radiotherapy, and those receiving TBI conditioning appear to be at the highest risk for this complication.
