Previous infections

When assessing a patient who has had previous significant infections, previous microbiologic data may be helpful. For example, a previous catheter-related bacteremia with a Pseudomonas resistant to ceftazidime, even though fully treated, might make the clinician choose something other than ceftazidime monother-apy for this patient's next episode of neutropenic fever.

Similarly, knowing the details of past invasive fungal infections, and verification that these were treated with an appropriate length of therapy and radiographic resolution, is crucial.
