Prognostic Indices Or Scores

As soon as factors have been identified to correlate with clinical outcome, investigators have combined all or part of these factors with the aim of obtaining a score that can predict for outcome: the higher the score, the lower the probability of remission, relapse or treatment failure-free survival, or overall survival. Scores were built from data accumulated in early or advanced stage patient series, enrolled or not in randomized clinical trials, or were based on individual data from randomized clinical trials analyzed using the meta-analysis approach. Only prognostic scores based on large series of patients or derived from adequate statistical analysis are reviewed next.
