The neurologic examination of the adolescent and the adult is the same. Still, it is important to assess the adolescent's developmental achievement according to age-specific milestones as described on pp. 631-633.
Some children who have attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity (ADHD) will have a great deal of difficulty cooperating with your neurologic and developmental examination due to problems focusing. These children often have high energy levels, cannot stay still for extended periods, and have a history of difficulty in school or structured situations.
